Football crushed 61-16 by Louisiana Tech

Seeking to build off its first win of the season against Prairie View A&M University last week, Rice University instead was crushed on the road, falling 61-16 to Louisiana Tech University to bring its record to 1-7 on the season.

Volleyball's recent play has team dreaming of conference title

With the Conference USA tournament rapidly approaching, the Rice University women's volleyball team has hit their stride with three consecutive victories over conference opponents. The Owls defeated University of Texas, El Paso, the University of North Texas and the University of North Carolina, Charlotte over the span of eight days.

Federalist Society hosts climate change debate

The Rice University Federalist Society hosted a debate between Ronald Sass, professor and chair of ecology and evolutionary biology, and Willie Soon, an astrophysicist and geoscientist, on the scientific evidence for human caused climate change Oct. 18.

Troubling context mars Birth of a Nation

After my preview screening for “The Birth of a Nation,” a viewer remarked that it portrayed an event that “you don’t learn about in history class.” It’s true; many accounts of important African-Americans are sadly ignored in American history, and Nat Turner leading a slave rebellion in Virginia in 1831 is certainly one of them.

CCL, student clubs register more than 150 voters

With a presidential election looming in November, the Rice Center for Civic Leadership and various student organizations have hosted a variety of voter registration drives and get-out-the-vote efforts over the past two months, registering a total of over 150 students before the Oct.

Kidd's Corner: The first of the lasts of senior year

One of the first signs that made me realize the end of my Rice journey was coming near was when I glanced over the roster prior to the season opener and noticed Jenny, Ruthie, and Mia, all players I have known and grown to love since freshman year, were designated as seniors.
