Rahul Rekhi wins a 2013 Marshall scholarship

Sid Richardson College senior Rahul Rekhi is one of 34 students selected nationwide to receive a 2013 Marshall scholarship. The Marshall scholarships fund up to 40 American students annually to study at the graduate level at any institution in the United Kingdom in the field of study of their choice, according to the Marshall scholarships website.

Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman spoke at Rice on Nov. 12 about the recent presidential election; the elimination of the high-wage, middle-skilled job due to globalization and the information technology revolution; and topics concerning foreign policy and international relations.

Centennial Recap

Rice University's Centennial Celebration, a multi-year joint effort by the administration, Student Association, Rice Program Council, the Graduate Student Association and university staff, saw a turnout and response that exceeded the expectations of many involved in planning the events.

Course syllabi can now be posted within ESTHER and archived over the years, according to Vice Provost of Academic Affairs Paula Sanders. The impetus for this initiative came from students, Sanders said.
