Project Spotlight: Senior Interviews

In the life of a high school senior, few things are scarier than that college admissions interview for your dream school. Sitting across the table from an alumni interviewer or an admissions staff member can be incredibly intimidating, especially when you think your entire future rests on your ability to answer a barrage of tricky questions. Fortunately for many prospective students, there is an alternative to the traditional interview.

A History of Decadence

This year's theme of "Harry NODder: Slytherin to My Chamber of Secrets" has generated a considerable amount of buzz since it was first announced. In the weeks leading up to NOD, Rice University girls have been searching for the perfect garters to match their Gryffindor ties, Rice boys have been Googling things like "Hufflepuff boxers" and everyone has been working on that "NOD bod." In honor of this year's theme, it seems appropriate to look into Dumbledore's pensieve and review the origins of NOD.

Recycled art exhibit opens

Over the next month, many students might be surprised to recognize their old belongings reconstructed and reinvented as new art. On Sept. 29, the Matchbox Gallery opened "Repurposed," a modern art exhibit displaying works of recycled materials and images.
