SA to vote on investor responsibility committee

Rice University currently has no mechanism for leveraging its endowment's investment to influence corporate policy, but the Student Association will vote at its Tuesday meeting on a resolution calling to change that. The resolution expresses SA support for the creation of a Committee on Investor Responsibility, through which Rice would vote on shareholder resolutions for the companies it invests in.


Signs of change: After delays, administration says gender-neutral bathroom signs to come in May

As Senate Bill 6 and House Bill 2899 aim to restrict bathroom accessibility for transgender and gender-nonconforming people in Texas, the Rice University Queer Resource Center hopes to increase the number of gender neutral bathrooms on campus by changing gendered signs on single-stall bathrooms to gender-neutral signs this summer. This change comes after a five-year-old initiative despite administrative delays.


New crisis manager to fix safety gaps after tornado, Taub shooter

Rice students may be most familiar with the university’s emergency management systems as strings of texts or emails symptomatic of heavy rains or flooding, but they encompass much more than that. Rice University’s new crisis manager Jerusha Kasch took office in February of this year and began working on plans to improve the existing systems, including the development of a new crisis center building and online disaster preparedness training programs for students.
