After only 60 tickets were sold for Rondelet, the Rice University spring formal was canceled last Wednesday, three days before it was scheduled to take place.The formal would have had a Moulin Rouge theme and taken place in the Grand Hall of the Rice Memorial Center.
The Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Administration full-time MBA program was ranked 53rd in the world for 2009 by the Financial Times, up nine places from last year's ranking of 64th. This is the third year that Rice was ranked on the list. The Jones School's highest ranking was 47th in 2007 before it fell to 64th last year. The rankings are based on several factors, including the average salary of alumni and the percentage increase in alumni salary using the alumni's pre-MBA and post-MBA salary information.

Last month, Sid Richardson College outshone the other colleges in a November-only aluminum recycling competition with 54 pounds of collected material - more than twice the amount of runner-up Wiess College. Overall campus recycling increased by 52 percent. The project was the latest sustainability-oriented effort from the class ENST 302: Environmental Issues: Rice in the Future. Sid senior Kassaundra Escalera, sophomore Paige Bailey, junior Meghan Binford and Will Rice College sophomore Abby Banks-Golub chose to run the contest as part of their final project on recycling. The students focused on aluminum recycling because of its ability to be recycled infinitely, Escalera said.
