RUPD identifies suspect in party sexual assault
Rice University Police Department has identified a suspect in the sexual assault of a student at the "Lads in Plaids" private party at Sid Richardson College last night, according to two emails sent to the Rice community by RUPD Chief of Police Johnny Whitehead.
"A female student was assaulted by an unknown male while dancing with him at the party," the first email said. "The suspect was described as a stocky white male wearing jeans."
RUPD's second email, a notification that the subject had been identified, came roughly nine hours after the first. Whitehead said RUPD has taken measures to protect campus safety.
"Proactive steps have been taken to ensure the safety and security of the Rice community," the second email said.
