Fashion Gaze

(10/25/12 12:00am)

Rice University students, when considered in totality, are not well-dressed. We wish we had a dollar for every time someone walked past in running shorts - two if they were also wearing a free T-shirt from some RPC event. The typical Rice student is busy with so many commitments that perhaps wardrobe choices, when considered at all, are made hastily. Oftentimes, these wardrobe choices are made out of sheer necessity to throw something on other than pajamas.

Relish: Shiva is an exotic, easily accessible jewel

(09/29/11 12:00am)

Shiva Indian Restaurant is one of the true gems of the Rice Village. Some of our readers may remember our "Veg Out" review from Oct. 2010, but we at the Thresher decided to give the restaurant a second chance and found ourselves converted. It is seldom the case that we find restaurants that are clean, affordable, in close proximity to campus and absolutely delicious, all of which apply ?to Shiva.

Relish: Miss Saigon misses target

(09/01/11 12:00am)

Miss Saigon Cafe is a small establishment, conveniently located in the heart of Rice Village. While the proximity to school and the promise of warm Vietnamese food make for an appealing combination for those who are sick of the day's servery options, the shoddy atmosphere and overpriced menu are quick to eliminate it from further consideration. The food, while not bad, is decidedly not special.
