Asaf Bar Natan applied to the Jones Graduate School of Business in October 2023 while serving as a captain in the Israel Defense Forces. Bar Natan now attends Rice with the help of the Gibborim Scholarship, for which an endowment was recently created within the graduate business school.

The Student Association’s Labor Commission received a verbal commitment from Dean of Undergraduates Bridget Gorman Feb. 10 to raise the student minimum wage from $7.25 to $10 an hour. This change will be applied in July 2025 for the start of the 2025-2026 fiscal year.

The Student Association’s director of elections Natalie Wang announced the election timeline in a senate meeting this Monday. Campaigning begins on Feb. 12 and ends on Feb. 26, with the voting period open for a week afterwards. Election results will be announced March 6 around noon.

The School of Humanities announced Nicole Waligora-Davis as the new associate dean of humanities Jan. 21. Waligora-Davis will replace Natasha Bowdoin as one of the associate deans, with the other being Fay Yarbrough.

Psychology students at Rice held a fall festival for refugees at Rice’s Welcome Center and Founder’s Court Nov. 23. The event was held in collaboration with the Center for Civic Leadership and Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston, a non-profit organization helping refugee families with their new lives.
