“This is the last great private party thrown at Rice — the 2020: Seeing Double basement party at Old Sid. What could’ve marked the start of a new Roaring ’20s is now but a stark reminder of the fun, connected culture we used to share at Rice.” — Will Mundy, Sid Richardson College senior
“This is a photo I took on campus when I went to do (I didn't know at the time) my very last in-person interview for the Thresher! It was March 10, after classes were canceled but before campus closed.” — Rynd Morgan, Brown College senior
“This is a picture of me and my sister just hanging out at home since there wasn’t much else to do during quarantine” — Shreya Majeti, Jones College freshman
“After NYC banned gatherings of more than 500 people at the time of the CMA convention, the annual ‘Photo Shoot-out’ challenged its photographers to document the ‘only story that mattered’ as the pandemic struck. March 13 was a rainy, frightening day for most New Yorkers. That afternoon, I took this photo on Broadway. People were masked. And alone. In the most populous city in the country. I knew we were all feeling the same thing.” — Katherine Hui, Duncan College sophomore
“Both photos are from working as an EMT during the COVID-19 pandemic. The selfie was taken prior to preparing for a COVID-19 call and during this time, N95 respirators were still scarce so they were reused regularly. The second image is from the ambulance.” — Luke Han, Brown College sophomore
