Metro meals: CoCo's Crepes
Eating breakfast for dinner is certainly a treat, especially if breakfast involves delicious crepes. Luckily, CoCo's Crepes, located in Midtown on 218 Gray Street, offers a wide selection of crepes, coffees, teas, smoothies, gelato, soups, salads and sandwiches. CoCo's is open from ?6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Monday through Thursday and 6:30 a.m. to noon on Friday and Saturday, so your hankering for crepes can be fulfilled at any time of day.
When we arrived at CoCo's in Midtown on Saturday night, we had already had Thanksgiving dinner in the servery, so we were a little bit full. However, we are never too full for eating out if it involves crepes. We ordered two different dessert crepes: the peach crepe with vanilla gelato and a "create-your-own" crepe that we ordered with raspberries, whipped cream and berry sauce. The crepes are relatively large, but those with an appetite could certainly order both a "main course" crepe and a "dessert" crepe.
The peaches-and-cream crepe was very sweet and filling. It had a lot of peaches, both inside and coming out of the sides, and the ice cream on top was a perfect amount. The cold ice cream and hot crepe tasted delicious together, especially with powdered sugar on top. The one complaint we had about this crepe was that the peaches were definitely from a can. We would order this crepe again, but we would also like to venture out a bit more and try some of the more creative flavors, such as a hazelnut spread or CoCo's classic: peanut butter, jelly and bananas. The dessert crepe prices range from $3.95 to $6.50, and the larger main course crepes range in price from $5.95 to $7.95.
There are certainly a plethora of interesting crepes to try on the menu, but the more adventurous can order a "create-your-own" crepe. We had the option to choose from a variety of fruits and sauces to tailor a crepe perfectly to our liking. The ingredients in our "create-your-own" crepe made a unique, sweet and tart combination. The crepe was delicious, and though there was an excess of raspberries and whipped cream, unlike the peach crepe, the raspberries were fresh. The crepe was so tasty we could definitely have ordered a second. The crepe cost $4.50, a pretty good deal considering the large amount of food.
The chefs made the crepes on an authentic French crepe stove right in front of us, which made the dining experience even more fun. CoCo's has both indoor and outdoor patio seating. We chose the patio and admired the beautiful weather and the Christmas decorations of the surrounding businesses. The pleasant atmosphere and the excellent crepes mean we will definitely return to CoCo's Crepes in the future.

This moment may be unprecedented — Rice falling short is not
In many ways, the current landscape of American higher education is unprecedented. Sweeping cuts to federal research funding, overt government efforts to control academic departments and censor campus protests and arbitrary arrests and visa revocations have rightly been criticized as ushering in the latest iteration of fascism.
