Bombay Pizza a refreshing change on a college go-to

Looking to grab a bite that is affordable, delicious and just off the light rail? Look no further than Bombay Pizza, which offers a variety of dishes that have an Indian twist without being overwhelmingly Indian. A mere 10 to 15 minute ride on the light rail, it is a great place to check out on Saturday nights with friends, or if you're just sick of the servery during the week. To get to the restaurant, just ride the METRORail to the Main Street Square station and it is directly to the left of the metro stop.

We ordered Charlie's Blackened Chicken Roll, the Berry Bombay pizza and the Munshi Pizza. At first bite, Charlie's Blackened Chicken Roll was a delectable. It was also a perfect portion that was filling but not over the top. On the sandwich, which was made with naan bread, were spicy chicken, carrots, cucumbers, and yogurt dressing. Eaters beware: the spicy chicken did have some kick, so make sure you have a cool beverage on standby. In fact, Bombay offers delicious fresh squeezed lemonade. The lemonade was deliciously tangy and sweet, and certainly beat any fountain drink. However, beer and soft drinks are also available. To top it all off, although you wouldn't expect them from an Indian restaurant, the french fries at Bombay Pizza were delicious.

Although there are a variety of different toppings that can be put on pizza, Bombay stretches the norm by putting strawberries on their pizza. The Berry Bombay pizza included strawberries, tomatos, onions, roasted pine nuts, basil, paprika, mozzarella, Gouda and balsamic vinegar. This interesting combination of ingredients blended together quite nicely. The taste of the strawberries was definitely noticeable, but was not overwhelmingly fruity, and really complemented the rest of the ingredients. There were a lot of toppings on this pizza, but they each had a unique enough taste so that it was possible to taste each one individually, and no one flavor was overpowering.

The Munshi Pizza included eggplants, bell peppers, zucchinis, mushrooms, spinach, garlic, fontina, mozzarella and special Bombay pizza sauce. The top of this pizza was loaded with vegetables, which were delicious. However, if you are a fan of meat, it might be best to try a different kind of pizza. Bombay offers a variety of pizzas with different types of meat, ranging from pieces of chicken to New York strip steak. All of the vegetables that were piled on tasted very fresh and were grilled to perfection. The flavor of this pizza was very different than that of the Berry Bombay pizza, which shows that this restaurant really does offer something for everyone.

One of the best parts of the pizza, however, was definitely the crust. The pizza is made on naan bread, so the crust itself is very thin. It provided a nice accent to the rest of the pizza, and really brought together the subtle Indian accents of the meal.

Bombay Pizza is very affordable. All entrees range from $4 to $11, and the pizzas are priced at 8 inch for $8.50, 12 inch for $15 and 16 inches for $19. To make it even better, the restaurant is on the Rice Hedgehopper card for 25 percent off.

This moment may be unprecedented — Rice falling short is not

In many ways, the current landscape of American higher education is unprecedented. Sweeping cuts to federal research funding, overt government efforts to control academic departments and censor campus protests and arbitrary arrests and visa revocations have rightly been criticized as ushering in the latest iteration of fascism.
