Online Comment of the Week
In response to "Going green requires new sustainable dining options," April 16: I'm interested in whether the dismissal of sustainable-minded changes as "cultural resistance" is based in the Housing and Dining assumptions of the Rice student's opinions or of some evidence-based survey that H&D or a student group has run. As engaged citizens, many Rice students want to do their part to help improve the environmental impact of our dining options, but to my knowledge, there haven't been any choices offered to us to help us feel we can make an impact (i.e., If we choose to lower our consumption of meat, what impact does that have if the servery is still providing just as much meat three meals a day, seven days a week?). I think there is a huge gap in the amount of student involvement, empowerment and purchasing power we have as individuals to help effect the change we want. I understand that H&D has a business to run, and businesses operate on tight profit margins, especially in the food industry. But I think that there needs to be room for change if we are to be true to our commitment to be environmentally conscious.

Review: 'Adults' couldn’t have matured better
Sitcoms are back, and they’re actually funny. FX’s “Adults” is an original comedy following a friend group navigating New York and what it means to be an “actual adult.” From ever-mounting medical bills to chaotic dinner parties, the group attempts to tackle this new stage of life together, only to be met with varying levels of success.
