Online only: Faculty Senate minutes
The following were noted at the most recent meeting of the Faculty Senate Feb. 24.
A working group on grade inflation presented its preliminary findings and solicited feedback from faculty about how to continue the investigation.
The deadline for students to apply to the Committee on Examinations and Standings for a spring semester readmission after being suspended was moved from Dec. 1 to Nov. 1. Speaker of the Faculty Senate Duane Windsor said the extra month will align the committee's date with other university deadlines, and give the committee more time to make its judgments and allow students more time to prepare for a return to Rice after hearing their decision.
The agenda for future meetings was presented.
The senate discussed making changes to senator election procedures in order to further faculty involvement.
The senate discussed ways to improve the body's advisory role to the administration at Rice. Numerous faculty members offered their own experiences and suggestions.
