Online only: This week's Power Rankings
Power Rankings
1. New Orleans Saints (7-0). Next time, just kneel the ball out, please. Other than that, they're simply an unstoppable pass game meets an unstoppable run game meets a stingy defense.2. Indianapolis Colts (7-0). Yeah the game was close, but the San Francisco 49ers are underrated. Peyton will right the ship again. And Anthony Gonzalez is close to coming back.
3. Minnesota Vikings (7-1). With Adrian Peterson still being the monster he is and Percy Hervin stepping up as a kick returner and wide receiver, Brett Favre has got to be feeling young again.
4. Philadelphia Eagles (5-2). What a beatdown of the New York Giants. McNabb has the offense clicking on all cylinders.
5. Dallas Cowboys (5-2). Romo is on a tear, but isn't it time to throw to Jason Witten some more? And I would love to see Felix Jones and Tashard Choice run the ball some more (WildCowboy anyone?).
6. Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2). Their win against the Minnesota Vikings is looking better and better. Rashard Mendenhall had better be ready to pound the rock.
7. New England Patriots (5-2). A bye week is probably not what this team needed right now. Hopefully it doesn't cool off Tom Brady too much.
8. Denver Broncos (6-1). Yeah, it's their first loss, and it was in Baltimore. But it's got me thinking again, is this team for real?
9. Cincinnati Bengals (5-2). Cardiac Cats. What a great nickname.
10. Houston Texans (5-3). How the heck did the Texans put up 31 points with Steve Slaton doing almost nothing? And it sucks that Owen Daniels is done for the year, but maybe that means we will see more James Casey. All-Texas Super Bowl ?
Armchair Lineman Thoughts
1. Brad Lidge is done. Stop playing and ruining the hopes of the anti-Yankee community.
2. Ted Ginn Jr. has more cuts then a deli shop. Did you see the second 100-yard kickoff return? Ridiculous.
3. Favre can still play big in big games. What an emotional roller coaster to play in at Green Bay.
4. The Giants need a bye week now more than anyone. Unfortunately they got a hot Phillip Rivers at home instead. I don't know if it's more troubling that they can't run the ball anymore or their pass defense is horrible.
5. Man, the Browns are awful.
6. Maurice Jones-Drew. Run little big man, run. And the rolling ball of butcher knives can now break long runs?
7. By the way, Chris Johnson can now run people over? Game over.
8. Nice to see Michael Crabtree making some catches. Hopefully he finishes strong.

This moment may be unprecedented — Rice falling short is not
In many ways, the current landscape of American higher education is unprecedented. Sweeping cuts to federal research funding, overt government efforts to control academic departments and censor campus protests and arbitrary arrests and visa revocations have rightly been criticized as ushering in the latest iteration of fascism.
