Week 6 NFL Power Rankings

By Liu     10/22/09 7:00pm

1. New Orleans Saints. Embarrassed the New York Giants last week, ravaging the dreams of both Eli Manning and Fred Carbone. It was a great weekend for Cowboy fans.2. Minnesota Vikings. The Ravens had not lost three games in a row for years. Too bad. Classic Brett Favre and soon to be classic Adrian Peterson. However, the defense has got to play the whole game.

3. Denver Broncos. How is that defense that good? Seriously. I have no idea. Kyle Orton can actually do more than manage a game and it is good to see Eddie Royal show up this season.

4. New England Patriots. If you started only starting Tom Brady and Randy Moss on your fantasy team, you would have won anything. Doesn't matter the opponent.

5. Indianapolis Colts. Yeah, they are still undefeated, but since they didn't beat the Titans like a stubborn mule, they drop a spot.

6. Atlanta Falcons. When are they going to get Michael Turner on track this season?

7. New York Giants. I guess I can put them here. I know they will regroup by next week (poor Arizona). And did anyone else think David Carr looked good in garbage time?

8. Pittsburgh Steelers. Not really sure which team belonged in this spot, but I guess Pittsburgh will do. Hopefully they didn't rush Polumalu back too fast. Willie Parker looks done, Big Ben Roethsliberger still leads the league in passing.

9. Dallas Cowboys. At least we didn't lose this week, right?

10. Cincinnati Bengals. They had to lose sometime, and why not to rising Houston? I'm sure there will be a lot of film study on defending the screen this week.

Armchair Lineman Thoughts

Two major beatdowns this weekend: Saints on the Giants, and Patriots on the Titans. I am really not sure which one was worse, but I doubt I can beat anybody in Madden like the Patriots did in the snow.

Not to sound like a broken record, but I have never seen the Giant's D-Line get blocked like that. And the amount of arguing in the secondary was almost Night at the Roxbury-esque when it came to who was covering who: You-me-me-you-me-me. Also, I have never seen Eli throw a bigger hissy-fit - except maybe when he was drafted by the Chargers.

Think the Chargers regret letting Drew Brees go? No slight to Philip Rivers, who I actually like, but this guy is a machine.

I actually enjoyed watching football this weekend because the Cowboys were not playing.

My neighbor back home is cousins with Orlando Pace, and I am sure he hates him as much as the rest of Chicago does.

What a ridiculous special teams week. Josh Cribbs, Eddie Royal, Darren Sproles. What more could you ask for?

Kevin Kolb anyone? I hate to harp on it, but Louis Murphy is a monster. What an effort to come back and block on the touchdown. And is it just me or does ESPN love that pigeon?

Denver looks legit. Somebody block Elvis Dumervil, please.

As much as Favre did to put the Vikings ahead, they probably should have lost on that field goal that the Ravens missed. Where did the defense go on the last drive?

Matt Schaub leads the league in touchdown scores. Wait, what?

This moment may be unprecedented — Rice falling short is not

In many ways, the current landscape of American higher education is unprecedented. Sweeping cuts to federal research funding, overt government efforts to control academic departments and censor campus protests and arbitrary arrests and visa revocations have rightly been criticized as ushering in the latest iteration of fascism.
