IT Ambassadors program begins

In an attempt to promote better communication between students and Information Technology, the department has hired one student from each college to help relay computer and Internet related announcements. IT Tech Communications Manager Carlyn Chatfield got the idea to create this position, known as IT Ambassadors, because she felt many students were unaware of all the services available to them.

New class size exceeds expectations

The number of incoming Rice undergraduates is 52 more than anticipated, marking a rise in the university's student yield but also leading to shortage of on campus rooms for the new Owls.

The Thresher sent News editor Seth Brown to Rice University Police Department's assessment center for new officer candidates on April 30 to help assess the applicants for four open positions in the department and learn about how RUPD selects its officers.

Drink up to the good times to come

A group of seniors make a toast at the senior gala earlier this month. The event, planned by the Senior Committee, featured live music, dancing, food and drinks.

Error leads to mistake in awarding victor

After awarding Hanzsen College the 2010-2011 Intramural Sports President's Cup, the IM department revoked this decision based on a faulty calculation of the results, giving the cup instead to the Graduate Student Association.
