(11/28/18 6:32am)

The president of Rice University introduced the former president of the United States to the crowd at the Baker Institute’s 25th Anniversary Gala by listing three things the Thresher Backpage wrote 11 years ago that the two men have in common. Both David Leebron and Barack Obama attended Harvard Law School, served as presidents of the Harvard Law Review and married women who are way out of their league.

(09/11/18 3:27am)

(08/22/18 5:49am)

It is not an easy time to be a journalist. But it is an important time to be one. When we both began writing for the Thresher, we were drawn in by our love of telling stories. We didn’t realize the contentious situations we’d be thrown into, or how we might be inundated with disappointed or even angry comments over a certain decision.

Football training camp: What we know

(08/05/18 5:23am)

Just three weeks from kickoff to the 2018 season, Rice football is deep into training camp. The Owls reported to camp a week earlier than usual due to their Aug. 25 “week zero” opener against Prairie View A&M University. Head coach Mike Bloomgren has repeatedly emphasized that no starting job is guaranteed with the new coaching staff. If media day is any indication, the first week of camp has given little clarity to the Rice depth chart.
