Missing student Matt Wilson found at University of California-Berkeley

Thursday, Aug. 14 - Hanszen College junior Matt Wilson, who had been missing since December, was found Wednesday night in a building on the University of California-Berkeley campus. A UC-Berkeley police officer was patrolling that part of the campus looking for a theft suspect when he came across Wilson alone in a classroom with a laptop hooked up to a projection system. At first, Wilson gave the officer a false name, but acknowledged that he was not a UC-Berkeley student. Later on, he provided police his real name.
The laptop Wilson was using was confirmed to be stolen property, and police detained him overnight pending theft or trespassing charges.
Wilson's appearance was far different from when he disappeared just before final exams last December. He had shaved his thick beard and trimmed his hair, and was wearing wire-rimmed glasses. Authorities are currently questioning him about his whereabouts since he disappearance.

I hope his mother drags him out of the police station by the ear right in front of the news cameras.

As a mother, I would be mad at him but relieved to know he was ok.
I would definitely probably slap him for not letting me know he was alive.

I wonder if he got involved in some kind of not so good group. Very strange story. This guy is very smart so he knew what he was doing.

I think RICE UNIVERSITY should allow Matt Wilson to come back to school there. I think he should be allowed to take his exams, and get back into school in the Fall. (Continued…)

I like Maxwell's sentiment that Rice should allow him to come back to his school. However, I believe he should be carefully evaluated for mental disorders. (Continued…)

Yes, evaluate him for mental disorders and if he is nuts, let him come to school in California. We appreciate that sort of thing here.

I am glad to know he was found. But I think if he made many of us read about him being lost this past months, he should at least explain what in the world he was doing over there. (Continued…)

Jafet, he will most likely explain it when his lawyer lets him. He is in jail at the moment, from what I've read.

Unfortunately, the majority of people have no understanding of mental illness. I personally became well educated about it from my mentally ill brother who ultimately committed suicide after years of struggle. (Continued…)

GOOD NEWS - The DA dropped all charges against Matthew. Now maybe Rice U will let him go back to doing what he obviously wants to do -- be a student. (Continued…)
